Ola working on helmet detection system for electric bikes, scooters

Image
The system will automatically switch the vehicle to Park mode if it detects that the rider isn’t wearing a helmet. While India is currently the largest market for two-wheelers, our country isn’t known to be at the forefront when it comes to rider safety. People riding without a helmet is not uncommon on our roads and in a bid to combat this, Ola Electric is working on a helmet detection system for its electric two-wheelers.  Ola’s helmet detection system uses a camera to detect whether the rider is wearing a helmet or not. It then sends this information to the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU is to an EV what an ECU is to an ICE vehicle) and then relayed to the Motor Control Unit which determines whether the vehicle will switch to Ride mode or not. If the vehicle is in Ride mode and the system detects that the rider is not wearing a helmet, the EV will automatically switch to Park mode. Once the vehicle is in Park mode, a notification will appear on the dash to remind the rider to wear a hel

The vehicle being tested is fitted with the 2.0-litre Stellantis Multijet diesel engine, which is BS6 Phase 2 compliant. We are told that some sensors related to emissions requirements were being tested on the Harrier in order to see how it performs on the WLTP testing cycle, and likely against more stringent emission norms as well. TVS patents new cruiser design

Image
The TVS cruiser’s design is very conventional and it appears to have large engine and a USD fork. TVS has patented a design for a new cruiser motorcycle and while it is still early days, the basic drawing indicates this machine will be very conventionally styled.  At the heart of this new cruiser appears to be a large engine, going by the fact that the mill appears to be quite wide. While no displacement figures have been revealed yet, this could perhaps be the largest engine to come out of the Hosur-based manufacturer’s facilities.  It is not yet known whether this large engine will be a single-cylinder unit or will have a twin-cylinder layout. There appears to be a beefy single exhaust pipe further pointing toward the fact that the cruiser will have a butch stance. While the design sketch shows a retro-styled cruiser with a large round fuel tank, the hardware looks to be modern with the presence of a USD fork. TVS is known for its edgy designs with the Apache range of bikes, but it
